D4010 Evaluating Mixed Methods Research Find a mixed-methods study on the HAC you used previously. If one is not available, explain how you would use the information from the two articles you reviewed previously to create a mixed-methods study. Remember, based on the Johnson and Onwuegbuzie article, that a mixed methods study does not just combine the previous two studies. It must also meet the criteria explained by the authors. • Evaluate the mixed methods study. Use the following mixed methods checklist as a guide. Mixed Methods Checklist • • • • • • • • Does the purpose statement fit logically with the problem statement? Does the purpose statement use similar words to the problem statement, or does it seem to address a different topic? Based on the problem statement, do the research questions align with the method and design of the study? For instance, are words like perception used that would automatically reject a quantitative study? Do questions seek to describe responses to the variables described in the study? Do research questions appear that fit with the criteria for both qualitative and quantitative research? Are hypotheses associated with the quantitative research questions? Does the researcher indicate how the two approaches will be integrated for the study? Does the question specify the participants and research site? Does the description describe the overall intent of the study to justify the use of a mixed method?
