Week 2 1st Assignment

Research in community psychology occurs at a rapid pace, partly reflecting the new evidence-based approach to community intervention programs. For this assignment, read and analyze five research articles in community psychology. In your analysis of each article, be sure to address the following:

Identify the general population being studied (demographics, location, ethnicity, etc.).

Include research questions and hypotheses.

Explain how the sample was selected.

Identify the data collection instrumentation used and its psychometric properties.

Indicate the research findings, their strength, and direction.

Explain the study’s limitations.

Include an analysis that determines whether the methods used (quantitative or qualitative) were appropriate for the topic under investigation.

Include your assessment of the study design and explain how these findings fit within the area of interest.

Provide the reference for each article in correct APA format at the end of your paper.

Then, add a paragraph that examines how these articles collectively address the following core values of community psychology:

Individual well-being

Sense of community

Social justice

Citizen participation

Collaboration and community strengths

Respect for human diversity (Starnes, 2004).

The five research articles you analyze must be from peer-reviewed journals and published within the past 5 years.

Week 2 2nd Assignment (Issues in my community is teen deaths. Gang Violence)

Instructions

Reflect upon your own membership and issues that exist in your community. Your task is to determine what community issue could be the topic for your Signature Assignment, a proposed community prevention or promotion program. Reflect upon core values of community psychology and how they may also be applied to your selected topic.

Begin by identifying five important problems or issues facing your selected community.

Next, assess each topic briefly using the core values of community psychology that you previously learned about. Which of the values do you think are relevant to each issue and why?

Then, evaluate how each issue involves factors at individual, microsystem, organizational, locality, and macrosystem levels.

After reflecting upon your analysis of these key issues, determine which issue will be the focus for your community program. Prepare a summary explaining your topic and why it merits further investigation.
