Pregnant women who abuse drugs negatively affect the health of their unborn fetus. Some localities arrest mothers when they come to the hospital to deliver their babies or when they come in for prenatal care if they have drugs in their system.

Is this an ethical approach to the problem? What do you think is right? How do we solve the problem and keep the fetus safe?

I personally believe this is an ethical approach to the problem. I think a woman who is putting her unborn child in danger should be punished for doing so. I feel the only way to solve this problem and to keep the fetus safe is by making harsher punishments for potentially hurting an unborn child. I also believe all pregnant women should be drug tested while they are pregnant.
