Cigarette Smoking
Everyone has at least one family members, friends, co-workers, etc. who smokes. People who choose to smoke probably notice the negative consequences of cigarette smoking. Most people, included myself, know that smoking will leads to lung cancer, but why? Scientists have known for decades that this hazardous habit cause DNA damage. They find out that “when a toxic hydrocarbon gets into a person through breathing or eating, enzymes in our blood break it down into smaller, safer molecules”. Those toxic hydrocarbons from cigarette will direct damage our DNA.
