NURS 6208 FINAL PROJECT AND GUIDELINES ESSAY ASSIGNMENT PAPER

Part I (5 points)

A NP researcher randomly sampled 100 women aged 50-65 years and measured their minutes of exercise in the past week, BMI, and depression. Depression was measured using a Likert type scale consisting of 20 items. The summation score ranged from 20 to 100 and the higher the score, the higher the level of depression. The correlation coefficients (Pearson’s rs) are summarized in the following table. For the analyses, statistical significant level was set at α=0.05.

ORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER NOW

Table 1: correlation among minutes of exercise, BMI and depression

Exercise in past week (minutes) BMI
BMI -0.20
Depression score -0.30 (P<0.05) 0.21

Write a research and null hypotheses regarding the relationship between exercise and depression.
Based on the test statistics in table 1, what is you conclusion regarding your research hypothesis? (Hint: discuss both the magnitude and direction of the relationship).
What proportion of variance is shared by minutes of exercise and depression among women 50-65 years of age? NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper
For the relationship between minutes of exercise and BMI, what was the estimated power of the statistical test? (Using the power table on page 202, table 9.1, Polit 2010). What was the risk that a type II error was committed?
If -0.20 is a good estimation of population correction, what sample size would be needed to achieve power of 0.80 at α=0.05?

PART II. (5 points)

Using the “N6208 Final Project Data”, select two variables with nominal or ordinal level measurements, and perform the descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage). [Please select only dichotomous variables from the following list: worknow, poverty, smoker, PoorHealth]. Then perform the bi-variate descriptive statistics using crosstabulation. Hand calculate the ARs, ARR, RR, and OR. Perform a chi-square analysis. Write a report with the following sections: NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.

Introduction: Including the variables, measurement levels, one bivariate research question, and one hypothesis [for example, the event of adverse risk (using your variable name here, for instance, alcohol usage) will be higher/or lower in the risk exposed group (i.e., marijuana use) compare to the non-exposed group (non-users of marijuana)].

Method: Include sample description (sample size, eligibility criteria) and statistical methods used for data analysis. (The sample information can be found in “Polit Dataset Description” in SPSS Data Sets folder). NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.

Results: Include frequencies and percentages for the two variables, crosstabulation results, risk indexes (ARs, ARR, RR, and OR), and chi-square test results. Include a summary table for the results and write your interpretation (Attach SPSS outputs).

Discussion: Write a report including summary and interpretation of the findings reported in the previous sections relative to the research questions you posed. NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.

Part III. (10 points)

Run a one-way ANOVA using the dataset “N6208 Final Project Data”. The Dataset contains 1000 cases from the original PolitDatasetA. Two variables will be used for this analysis: Satisfaction and Houseproblem.

The variable Houseproblem is created using the variable housprob, a summary index of eight variables about current housing problems for the women in this sample—for example, whether or not they had their utilities cut off, had vermin in the household, had unreliable hear, and so forth. The variable housprob is a count of the total number of times the women said “yes” to these eight questions. The variable housprob is recoded into Houseproblem based on number of housing problems. The coding for Houseproblem is: 1=no housing problems, 2=one housing problem, and 3= two or more housing problems. NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.

Satisfaction measures the overall satisfaction with material sell-being. This variable is a summated rating scale variable for women’s responses to their degree of satisfaction with four aspects of their material sell-being—their housing, food, furniture, and clothing for themselves and their children. Each item was coded from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 4 (very satisfied), so the overall score for the four items could range from a low of 4 (4 X 1) to 16 (4 X 4). Higher score indicates greater satisfaction. This scale has an internal consistency Cronbach’s alpha of 0.90. The content validity and construct validity have been established in previous research.

For this analysis, use the variable Houseproblem as the independent (group) variable and variable Satisfaction as the outcome variable. To run the one-way ANOVA, click Analyze → Compare Means → Oneway. In the opening dialogue box, move Satisfaction into the Dependent List and Houseproblem into the slot for Factor. Click the Options pushbutton, and click Descriptives and Homogeneity of Variance, then continue. Next, click the Post Hoc pushbutton and select LSD. Click continue, then OK, and answer these questions:

What are the mean levels of satisfaction in the three groups? Report the mean, SD, minimum, maximum and sample size in a table.
Write a research question.
Write the research hypothesis and the null hypothesis.
What was the value of the F statistic?
What were the degrees of freedom?
What was the probability level for the F statistic? Can the null hypothesis be rejected?
According to the LSD test, were any group means significantly different from any others? If yes, which ones? NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.
Write a paragraph summarizing the results.
Attach the relevant SPSS printouts. NURS 6208 Final Project and Guidelines Essay Assignment Paper.

Background/Purpose:Medical sonography has become a vital diagnostic and therapeutic modality in modern-day healthcare practice, particularly in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology. However, sonographers often have to work in situations which necessitate their carrying out repetitive movements, adopting awkward, misaligned positions and maintaining significant amounts of pressure on transducers for long periods of time. As a result, symptoms such as muscle and joint pain are common amongst practitioners. With up to 80–85% of sonographers working in pain, there is a need to develop suitable prevention programmes, which will require an in-depth knowledge of the factors causing and/or predisposing sonographers to the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs). This study focussed on identifying these factors.

Methodology: MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, EBSCO, PEDro, PsycINFO, AMED and the Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) online library via GCU’s ‘DISCOVER IT’ engine were electronically searched. The study was conducted as a structured literature review, adopting the PIO approach to guide the development of a research question and the database search. The use of carefully defined search terms and Reference Manager, the separation of grey literature and publications which were not in the English language and the application of specific inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in the selection of sixrelevant articles, those that meet the inclusion criteria. These were subsequently assessed for quality using the CASP tool and subjected to a standardised data extraction form.

Main Results: This review highlighted the fact that there is a relatively high prevalence of WRMSDs amongst sonographers. Work-related risk factors include high patient loads, long working hours andrepetitive muscle movements in repetitive work done by specialised sonographers such as cardiac and obstetric sonographers. Other factors include ergonomically poor equipment, poor workspace organisation and poor work scheduling. The increasing obesity of present-day populations causes increased stress and strain amongst sonographers and augments the possibility of developing WRMSDs.

Conclusion: The development of WRMSDs amongst modern-day sonographers is the result of interactions between different individual, workplace, administrative and biomechanical factors. Poor work scheduling, high patient loads (resulting in part from low staffing levels) and little or no practitioner rest between patients are additional influencing factors. This pointsto the need for modern, ergonomically safe equipment; proper workplace organisation;and the development of good work environments for sonographers. It is recommendedthat future research should identify the degree of influence of each factor on the development of WRMSDs. Finally, qualitative examination of influences on employee well-being, satisfaction and commitment can help to provide insights into the creation of ergonomically and psychologically healthy environments.

Analyze how one of the following nursing accreditation methods would be incorporated and applied in the new BSN program

As a nurse educator, you may be expected to lead and participate in the development and revision of nursing programs. Therefore, it is essential that you have the competencies to analyze internal and external factors and trends that impact the design and delivery of nursing curricula. You must also be able to use a variety of learning theories to guide the development of nursing curriculum and integrate relevant educational philosophies, modalities, and assessments to achieve identified program outcomes. The clear articulation of the ethical standards and desired learner outcomes to stakeholders will be necessary for achieving the requirements of state and national regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Scenario:
At Hartford Community College, the executive team has decided to change the current two-year associate degree nursing program to a four-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program. As the director of allied health programs, you have been asked to chair the nursing curriculum committee, which is charged with fully designing the new BSN program. Your position gives you access to societal, economic, and institutional trends that are current in the field of nursing education. Taking these items into consideration, your committee has been tasked with gathering information and presenting it for the new BSN program. You are to ensure the new BSN program is consistent with state and national professional standards and guidelines. You will be creating a report to take to the board of directors for approval.

Requirements:

to create a tight knit corporate culture.

As CEO of Zappos, Tony Hsieh wanted to create a tight knit corporate culture. Tony preferred to hire individuals with a similar vision instead of employees focused on their salary. Hsieh purchased a large gathering place just, so he and his close friends or friends of friends could relax, hang out and be a group of peers, not coworkers. He felt if employees focused on the vision of the company, an outstanding customer experience, the pay would come, and he would have interested long term employee. A call center representative could be become a senior manager within 5-7 years (Askin). The growth required to allow employees to move up quickly is difficult to fathom. I believe Hsieh is a transformational leader. He utilizes the transformational leadership style to create a vision (9 common leadership styles: Which type of leader are you?, 2015). The vision can be against the normal operating model but that does not matter. As long as he has the right team around him, a leader can utilize the transformational style. The style is inspirational to employees and can help “sell” the vision and the culture for the company. I would prefer a more democratic leadership style. I prefer to utilize facts and the experience of those around me. I do not have to be the smartest or have the broadest vision, just have to manage a quality team who are free to express their ideas. I prefer to have input from multiple views before making decisions. I know that does not always happen, but everyone brings different experiences to the table. The culture created would be collaborative. Ideas would be shared, explored and implemented if appropriate. Committees can be useful, but to many are a waste of time. The committees would help create policy and drive culture. They would not be limited to upper management. People working a few weeks to those from the beginning could be on the same committee. In the room, management level does not matter, all are peers looking to better the business. Having communication lines to all levels of the business can help direct policy and allow upper management to remain connected to the day to day operations and employees while shaping the future. A previous company I worked for had committees for everything, but nothing was accomplished. The meeting took hours but no one came prepared for the meeting. There were to many committees or the committee still met just because the meeting was on the calendar. I worked in risk management and felt a member of risk management should be included in change initiatives and business process upgrades. Risk management would find out after a process did not go as planned or posed serious financial risk. Having the right people on the steering committees may have helped prevent some failures. Committees were only for management and if they did not have the desire or time to be involved, the ball was dropped. I offered, as an analyst, to join committees, even if it was a silent member just to gain perspective and to report back. My idea was not taken very well. Companies have to be adaptable. Post 2000, the world changes very rapidly. A 20-year plan created before 2000 would likely be outdated in todays world. 5-year plans must be adjusted based upon the market and competition. The vision must be created to withstand time, but the strategy must adapt. Having support systems in place, such as open-door policies, committees with all levels of employees and an upper management team who looks at the vision and not their paycheck will help the company navigate the changing world.

response 2:

Let me be transparent about Zappos in I have been a customer. And overall the experience has always been a good shopping deal. I had never heard about the system of holacracy until reading literature about it. While I think it has some good points, I feel its like the inmates running the asylum. Focus At the heart of this idea, is employee empowerment. Tony Hsieh in my view based on his background, looks at empowering his employees for the benefit of the customer in a maximum great experience. By empowering employees to make their own decisions you find and build their passion for the job and service to the customer, and it all falls into place, profits will take care of itself. If I Under the later part of the 20th century, and for sure, the 21st century, my way or the highway for the most part has been thrown out. And I think Zappos has some good points with the holacracy system, especially with employee empowerment and emphasis on great customer service. Yet, I would have more of a straight up and down vertical structure with some hierarchy modifications. And the reason for this would be control and accountability. Complement This leadership style would complement my vertical hierarchy by giving more of a voice to my employees and the opportunity to incorporate new ideas all the time. Thus, if successful, we celebrate and recognize. And at the same time allow responsibility and accountability to be held where it should be and that is at the top. I particularly say this, for I don’t see any room for dealing with crisis in the holacracy system, and should the company have a major crisis, who will identify as the face of the problem and the fix. Structural support If we focus on the steps suggested by Kotter in leading change, you can see a structure their. From starting with a urgency, building coalitions, up to powering employees, you have a system in place that if done correctly benefits all persons if you can successfully get the buy in, the company and the consumer benefits. And as we have discussed, the change initiative has to be worked from start to finished and then constantly followed up to sustain the process. That is if sold, well executed, sustainability will succeed, this is why structure is important.

Overview
After completing your MBA degree, you will very likely be in a position to help increase the
fundamental value of your company. All the courses of the MBA have been designed to give you
the financial tools and analytical skills required to be successful financial managers. In FIN 6406, a
research project has been designed to help prepare you for this challenge in the workplace. In this
application assignment, you will utilize aspects of what you have learned to produce a financial
quarterly trend analysis of one company. This is a group project and one report per group is to be
submitted.
For this research project, you will select a publicly traded company to investigate over the course of
the following weeks. You may choose a company where you are currently employed, a company
where you might seek employment, a company you’ve read about, or a company that piques your
interest. For instance, you may research Starbucks (stock symbol SBUX) because you drink a latte
every day, Toyota (TM) because you drive their cars or have been following the news, or Amazon
(AMZN) because you are interested in their electronic reading experience, the Kindle.
You will research sources, such as Yahoo! Finance and MSN Money, for the financial highlights
and trading information on your selected company. Using these sites, you will compute the ratios
for the four most recent quarters of your chosen company. An Excel template will be provided for
you to compute these ratios.
In Week 7, you will complete the research project by submitting the final results in a formal report.
Create your report as a Word document, which you will then attach. This report will include your
ratio computations, a financial trend comparison, an industry-performance comparative financial
analysis, and a comparative SWOT analysis. Most important, you will make decisions about what
you as an investor have to lose or gain by investing in your selected company. You will also
assume the role of a member of the Board of Directors of a bank that will consider whether to
extend the company a line of credit. In this culminating activity, the knowledge you have gained
and the skills you have practiced will be applied in a report similar to those you will eventually
execute on a regular basis.
The Guidelines for this Research Project follow.
Start the project report by providing the following information necessary for your research:
1. The name of the publicly traded company you will investigate
2. A brief paragraph (25 – 50 words) describing why you chose that particular company
3. The sources you used to research the financial health of the company and its competitors
Then use the Excel spreadsheet posted in the Content section of Blackboard to input quarterly
financial data for your chosen company. Produce a report which includes an analysis of the
financial position of the company. Create your report as a Word document by copying the Excel
spreadsheet into the document. This report will include your ratio computations, a financial trend
comparison and an industry-performance comparative financial analysis.
