Parenting Styles Cfc

Parenting styles and parenting interventions are very important and often debated. There seems to be a new opinion each year on the best way to help raise responsible and healthy children. It is important then to use scientific data rather than anecdotal evidence to make our decisions and to suggest interventions to others.

Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the various parenting styles, such as authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved, and various parenting interventions, such as time out/in, loss of privilege, and ignoring. Then, do the following:

Choose one of the following situations:
Your three-year-old son refuses to eat his dinner and cries at the table for you to feed him.
Your six- and seven-year-old stepdaughters have been arguing the last two days and have been unusually quarrelsome with you.
Your ten-year-old adopted son had put his head down on the table and refused to do his homework. When you told him he has to complete it, he starts throwing anything he can get his hands on. (You have other children in the room.)
Your twelve-year-old daughter has been forgetting things at school and home, and now has begun to forget to do her chores as well.
Considering that all behavior has meaning in a larger context, explain what the message might be behind this behavior before implementing a strategy.
Select the parenting style that may best suit the situation and apply one or more parenting interventions you discovered in your research to your chosen situation.
Explain why this is the best style and technique and what type of result (in the child’s behavior) might occur. Is this the parenting style you would use? Why or why not?
Write your initial response in a minimum of 300–400 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources, including use of in-text citations and full references. Incorporate information from at least two academic sources to support your statements or ideas. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this week, or academic journal articles found in the Argosy University online library.

Exhibition Of World Art

Exhibition of World Art

Imagine you are a curator at your local city’s Museum of Art. You have been asked to organize a small exhibition of objects of art from the cultures of Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Your exhibition should include representative objects that highlight significant and essential ideas of each culture. You may plan to include actual objects in your exhibition, or photographs or models of larger structures or sculptures.

Survey your course textbook and reliable internet websites to locate two art objects from each of the following five cultures: India, China, Japan, Africa, and Oceania (the Pacific Cultures), that you would like to include in your exhibition. Your objects must date to the time period we are studying in this course (1300-Present Day). You will select a total of ten objects for display in your “Exhibition of World Art.”

Then, write a “museum label “for each object within a Microsoft Word document. The following should be on the “label “for each object:

A photograph of the object
Identifying information:
Name of the artist (if known—otherwise, attribute the culture)
Title of the work
Date of the work
Medium/materials used to create the work
Current location
A paragraph of 4-5 sentences describing why the object is representative of its culture and is culturally significant. Briefly explain why you have selected the object for display.
Finally, in a paragraph of 8-10 sentences, write a summarizing overview of your “Exhibition of World Art,” highlighting key similarities and distinctions between the objects you have curated. Imagine that visitors to your exhibition will read this overview as they enter your “Exhibition of World Art,” and provide them with any information or context they may need to fully appreciate the objects on display.

Offer a citation of your sources for each image and the information provided as appropriate.

How would you characterize effective altruism?

D. Matthews’s Response to N. Bostrom on Existential Risk (Readings and lectures Week 11)

Format: submit a doc, docx, rtf, txt, or pdf file to Turnitin via iLearn

Length: 1600-1800 words (include word count at the start of the paper)

Due date: If submitted by 05/04: +1.5 Extra credit on course grade If submitted after 05/12: penalty: -0.5/day on essay grade

Overview:

Nick Bostrom argues that avoiding existential risk and existential loss should be a global priority. Dylan Matthews responds by stating that Bostrom’s argument relies on a false sense of statistical precision, and by questioning his assumption that people who might exist in the future should be counted equally to people who do exist today. This assignment asks you to present and assess Matthews’s critique, that is, identify the claim and its justifications.

Assignment:

Compose an essay discussing the following questions:

• How would you characterize effective altruism? Are there good reasons to support this view?

• According to “existential risk obsessives,” why should effective altruists care about existential risk?

• What does Matthews mean when he says, “global poverty is a rounding error”? Is this an accurate characterization of Bostrom’s viewpoint?

• Are Matthews’s criticisms of Bostrom’s argument valid and reasonable? Why or why not?

Writing and Structural Notes:

• It is crucial that you present Bostrom’s argument and Matthews’s criticism.

• The presentation of somebody else’s argument should be done in your own words (i.e., not just a quotation), and should be done as clearly and plainly as possible.

• Present also your own take on Bostrom’s argument. That is, explain whether or not you agree with it and why: You may agree with a claim but not the justifications given for it. Conversely, you may agree with all the reasons given to support a claim, but not agree that they do in fact support the claim in question.

• Be sure to include a proper introduction and conclusion. An introduction should do the following:

o Introduce the reader to the problem. That is, explain in general terms what the topic is, what the issue is, and why the reader should care about it.

o Introduce the reader to what will be done in the essay: explain briefly what the different parts of the essay will be, that is, provide a roadmap

You do not need to use additional sources.

• Cite all sources using both in-text citations and a works cited page.

Rubric:

• Most important for this assignment is the accurate, fair exposition of Bostrom’s and Matthews’s claims. • Also, important—but to a lesser degree—is your assessment of these claims (particularly of Matthews’s criticism). • Clarity of expression is paramount. Aim to write simple, plain sentences. Avoid technical terms and jargon whenever possible.

SOC 200: What Is Meant By The Term Caregiver Burden (Essay Sample)

Make-up Exam 3

2) What is meant by the term caregiver burden? How do caregiving roles differ by culture and ethnicity? How does gender play a role in the caregiving that goes on in the US? What is meant by the term “sandwich generation?” Make sure you distinguish between formal and informal caregiving.

3) Explain why we see more sexually transmitted diseases among the elderly than we might expect and why STDs may be transmitted rather easily among the elderly in residential settings.

Try to explain the difference in the two men’s political philosophy.

Franklin Roosevelt (FDR) was elected to four terms as President.  That is longer than any other President, serving 12 years before his death in 1945.  He was President during two very difficult times in our history, the Great Depression and World War II.  Read section 10,11,and12 of lesson 22 and lesson 23 and watch the video on the Great Depression.  Watch “The Presidents” video sections on Hoover and Roosevelt.  Try to get a feel for the frustrations that Hoover felt as the situation worsened and the challenges facing FDR as he began his first term. The links to those videos are under the assignment button of the course menu.

.

Once you have looked at that information I want you to play the explanation game.  That is where you observe details  and attempt to explain them in a way that helps you understand the total picture.  In this case I want you to  compare and contrast the respective approaches of Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt to the issues and problems of the Great Depression. This will require details on the New Deal, its successes and failures.  You also need to show what Hoover did at the beginning of the depression and how it did or did not work.   Try to explain the difference in the two men’s political philosophy.   As always you need to have an initial post and at least two responses.  To focus the discussion you could question some of the actions of the Presidents but you do need to give some details in those questions.
